Pa. Turnpike Reports Slow-Moving Traffic Near Allegany Tunnel
Eastbound-only congestion expected to last until around 8 p.m. tonight.
HARRISBURG, PA (09/26/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is cautioning eastbound motorists of stop-and-go traffic conditions about five miles east of the Allegheny Tunnel. Motorists should be prepared for slow-moving or stopped traffic near milepost 128 in Somerset County due to a roadway paving operation in the left lane. The construction area is located near milepost 133 in Bedford County, about 13 miles west of the Bedford Exit (No. 146). As of 4:30 today, stop-and-go conditions were affecting a five-mile stretch nearing the construction area. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when driving in this area and expect delays of up to one hour. The delays are expected to diminish by 8 p.m. tonight.
