NEW YORK , NY (08/02/2010)(readMedia)-- Columbia's own Darren Paul Shearer, a new student in the Pace University M.S. Publishing Program, received the First Place award in the "Christian Living" category of the Christian Choice Book Awards Contest launched by Xulon Press. The award-winning book, "In You God Trusts: The Five Domains of Personal Responsibility," was written as a means to help people reach their potential in five core areas of life: vocation, mind, relationships, body, and finances.
As outlined in this 2010 publication, the "5D" approach to personal growth promotes the holistic transformation of a person's life. Since the nature of human life is significantly integrated, one domain can only develop as the other four develop.
The annual Xulon Press Christian Choice Book Awards is a contest which awarded certificates and prize money to 42 Christian authors for outstanding literary achievement in 14 categories. It honors exceptional books that are published independently by non-traditional publishers. The contest was open to those Christian, self-published authors who released a Christian book in 2009-2010 and had 206 entrants in a variety of categories that ranged from Christian living to poetry.
As the first contest of its kind in the Christian publishing arena, the Christian Choice Book Awards represents a unique opportunity for self-published Christian authors to make their voice heard. And, thanks to this one-of-a-kind contest from the number one Christian publishing company in the world, authors will finally achieve the recognition they deserve. Xulon Press is a part of Salem Communications Corporation and is the world's largest Christian publisher. Salem Communications is the country's leading Christian communications company with interests in radio, Internet, and magazine publishing.
