Parker High School takes third place at MSOE

MILWAUKEE, WI (12/12/2011)(readMedia)-- A team of students from Parker High School in Janesville, Wis., took third place in Milwaukee School of Engineering's annual "OP"portunity Computer Conference. The team, "Team D," was coached by Bob Getka. The OP Conference gives high school students the opportunity to demonstrate excellence in academic pursuits. The competitions challenge the skills and abilities of students at all levels.

For the OP Computer competition, the four-member teams worked together using a laptop computer to write programs to solve problems of varying levels of difficulty. They were allowed to use either C++ (Microsoft Visual Studio .NET with APCS C++ Classes) or Java (Eclipse) to write their programs. There were 27 teams that participated in the competition. Cary-Grove High School-Team A (Cary, Ill.) took first place, and Stoughton High School-Team A (Stoughton, Wis.) took second place in the competition.

MSOE is an independent university with about 2,500 students.
