Pastor Charlie Muller Takes Gun Shop-Back Program to Binghamton

Binghamton Follows Albany's Successful Gun Turn-in Model

ALBANY, NY (06/23/2009)(readMedia)-- Pastor Charlie Muller, working with Jack Gilroy of Binghamton, NY, met in May with Broome County Sheriff David Harder to discuss the success of Albany's Put it Down Gun Buy-Back Program that has had a tremendous impact in Albany. To date, more than 200 illegal handguns have been collected. District Attorney David Soares has not only supported the program, but is advocating additonal funds through an Impact Grant to continue this program in Albany.

Pastor Charlie will travel this Wednesday, June 24th, to meet the press at 3:00 and 5:00PM and announce a one-day gun collection event that will take place in the St. James Rectory Parking Lot this Saturday, June 27th, from 8:00AM to 3:00PM. Wegmans Food Chain will give a $150 gift card for the first ten guns. Pastor Charlie will give a choice of Oak Dale Mall gift cards or Wegman's Grocery Cards for the remaining guns being turned in.

Pastor Charlie is excited about expanding the Put it Down Shop-Back Program that allows guns to be turned in at a local church.
