Deeper Sense

PAUL SMITHS, NY (12/01/2016)(readMedia)-- The Paul Smith's College VIC's Heron Marsh Gallery will host an opening reception at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, for the art and poetry exhibit, "A Deeper Sense." The public is welcome, and light refreshments will be served.

During the fall semester, area artists and poets shadowed Paul Smith's College students during their ecological field studies and produced works of art based on those student projects.

Three projects will be featured: developing a land management plan for the Adirondack Mountain Reserve (Ausable Club); long-term monitoring of the Smitty Creek Watershed, located near St. Regis Mountain; and a study of factors that influence the distribution of black spruce and tamarack in the Adirondacks.

The exhibit will feature work by local artists and includes such diverse media as watercolor, oil, fabric, mixed media, photography, video and poetry. "A Deeper Sense" will be on display through the end of January.

The reception is concurrent with Capstone Day at Paul Smith's College, during which senior students in all academic programs present their culminating experiences.
