RALEIGH, NC (12/16/2010)(readMedia)-- Peace College senior Kirsten Jarrell, a native of Hope Mills, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation last week.
SHRM, which gives out scholarships each year to Human Resources majors, chose Jarrell and 10 other students out of a pool of over 100 for its national scholarship. The national scholarship is awarded based on accomplishments, character and leadership potential.
This is Jarrell's third scholarship from SHRM this year – the first coming at the local level in April and the second at the state level in October.
"Kirsten is an amazing person and an exceptional student leader," Associate Professor of HR Kathy Corley said. "We're very proud of her accomplishments."
This is the third year in a row a Peace College student won a national SHRM scholarship. Charlotte Pipkin was selected two years ago and Bianca Boles won last year.
