DES MOINES, IA (08/10/2008)(readMedia)-- Robert Kroese of Pella whittled to victory in the Woodcarving competition, judged prior to the opening day of the 2008 Iowa State Fair. Kroese won Best of Show, first runner-up and fourth runner-up.
Philip Kohler of Ankeny received second runner-up, and Don Lund of Iowa City earned third runner-up. Des Moines resident Randy Hansen took home fifth runner-up.
Winning entries are on display daily during the Fair in the Patty & Jim Cownie Cultural Center.
