ALBANY, NY (12/14/2021) (readMedia)-- Over one month the calls have been coming in for help this Christmas so a decision had to be made to set up a place to help all those struggling this Christmas.
Victory Church had to transform their building on 2739 Hamburg street in Rotterdam into a Santa's workshop to help the high demand for help this Christmas. Every year the church helps the children and teens living in group homes but this year with a record number of calls the church had to set up a special space to fill orders of those needing help this Christmas.
Santa's workshop will be open through Christmas Eve to finish orders and to then load up the truck to deliver gifts to the group homes.
Over 100 families will receive their gifts today and the second round of gifts will be put together this week. Each child receives 5 to 7 gifts. There has never been a year with so many needs and the church is trying to gather as many gifts as it can to meet the need.
One man donated his father's Hess truck collection and when people found out they decided to give there collections 3 collections have been donated.
This is the spirit of Christmas.
Volunteers will be working through Christmas at the Rotterdam site.
