Philadelphia Native Anu Thomas Receives Boren Scholarship to Study Arabic in Jordan
VILLANOVA, PA (06/29/2011)(readMedia)-- Anu Thomas, a Philadelphia native and rising junior at Villanova University, has been awarded a National Security Education Program (NSEP) Boren Scholarship to study Arabic language and culture in Jordan during the 2011-2012 academic year.
As a Boren Scholar, Thomas will be adding proficiency in Arabic language to her repertoire of other languages which includes Malayam, an Indian language, and Spanish.
In addition to her studies, Thomas serves as an interpreter for the Immigration Clinic at the Villanova School of Law. She is Villanova's first Boren Scholar.
Since 1993, more than 965 Villanova University students have applied for national fellowships. Of those, 274 advanced to finalist status while 159 received awards.
