Phoenix House Brooklyn Community Recovery Center to Host Recovery Advocacy Day

BROOKLYN, NY (02/08/2021) (readMedia)-- On February 9, Phoenix House Brooklyn Community Recovery Center will host the Friends of Recovery New York's (FOR-NY) annual advocacy day both safely in-person and online. New Yorkers in recovery for addiction will share their journey through art and testimonial, participate in peer recovery support groups, learn about recovery supports in their community, participate in a NARCAN training, learn how to enroll in the Recovery Center and volunteer in their community and participate in networking, games and raffles.

COVID-19 has had profound impacts and challenges for those struggling with substance addiction. According to the CDC, over the last year overdoses have increased 18%, leading to 81,000 overdose deaths. Just recently, the New York Division seized 214 percent more meth seizures and 59 percent more fentanyl in 2020 compared with the year prior.
