Phoenix House NY CEO on Tragic Continuing Rise of Drug Overdose Deaths

BROOKLYN, NY (05/11/2022) (readMedia)-- Today, the CDC released a report showing the preliminary number of overdose deaths rose nearly 15% in 2021, following an even steeper rise of 30% in 2020. In response, Ann Marie Foster, president and CEO of Phoenix Houses of NY/LI, released the following statement about the record-breaking numbers:

"The overdose numbers keep getting worse, and we need the government funding to match this unprecedented level of crisis. Without a significant increase in funding for substance use rehabilitation providers and overdose prevention measures, more and more Americans will die needlessly as a toxic mix of super-charged narcotics and hopelessness spreads across the country."
