LONG ISLAND, NY (06/10/2026) (readMedia)-- On Thursday, Phoenix House New York & Long Island and elected officials will host a graduation for 60 New Yorkers in recovery from addiction. Amid a statewide substance use crisis that affects over 1.9 million New Yorkers, and the imminent loss of healthcare coverage facing more than half a million New Yorkers, Phoenix House will celebrate its classes of 2025 and 2026 and recognize their formal graduation at Hofstra University. Suffolk County Legislator Sam Gonzalez will serve as the ceremony's keynote speaker, highlighting Phoenix House's Brentwood Mental Health Center, which sits in his district.
With its newly expanded services across Long Island, Phoenix House leverages a uniquely community-oriented approach to support those in recovery. The annual ceremony brings together elected officials, Phoenix House leadership and board members, community advocates rooted in New York's recovery movement, and hundreds of friends, relatives, and allies. Following graduation, 99% of Phoenix House alumni remain free from substance use a month after discharge, 95% improve their housing status, and 70% see improved employment outcomes according to survey data.
