Phoenix House New York to Present Art Exhibition Curated by New Yorkers in Recovery

UnBound celebrates recovery, community, and creative expression in the second annual, Phoenix House-led Art of Advocacy program

BROOKLYN, NY (06/11/2025) (readMedia)-- On Thursday, June 12, Phoenix House New York's Brooklyn Community Recovery Center invites community members to the opening reception for UnBound, an immersive art exhibition showcasing the work of more than 150 New Yorkers in recovery. The exhibit is the culmination of a yearlong creative journey made possible through Phoenix House's Art of Advocacy program - a three-year SAMHSA-funded initiative designed to foster healing, community, and self-expression through the arts.

Featuring ceramics, metalwork, stained glass, loom weaving, and more, UnBound offers a powerful testament to the role of creativity in recovery. The exhibit reflects personal narratives and collective strength, celebrating how art can loosen the grip of the past and weave new possibilities for healing. UnBound also features the screening of a documentary chronicling the program's second year. Community: A Lifeline for a Lifetime demonstrates the power of creativity and art as a means of lifting the voice of our recovery community. The screening takes place Saturday, June 14th at 6pm and is followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, Rajvi Desai.
