Phoenix House on NYC Overdose Spike: "Invest in Treatment Programs"

NEW YORK, NY (09/26/2023) (readMedia)-- In response to news that ovoverdoses in New York City increased 12% last year - driven by fentanyl -- Ann-Marie Foster, President and CEO of Phoenix Houses of New York and Long Island put out the following statement:

"New Yorkers keep dying at record numbers from overdoses because we are not investing in proven treatment programs that save lives. To adequately address the opioid crisis, we must spend far more on treatment programs that provide medication assisted treatment and fund recovery centers with staff qualified to stop drug dependence and reduce relapse. Right now, we are out-gunned, and fentanyl is winning."
