Phoenix Houses of NY/LI Remembers Founder Mitchell S. Rosenthal, M.D.
NEW YORK, NY (11/15/2022) (readMedia)-- Dr. Mitchell "Mitch" S. Rosenthal, founder of Phoenix House addiction treatment centers, passed away in his sleep Monday night. Members of the Phoenix Houses of NY/LI are saddened by his passing, and will continue to honor and build on his legacy by helping New Yorkers overcome substance use disorder.
"Mitch was more than just a pioneer in his field - his life-saving work touched countless families. He will be missed. It is an honor to continue his work at Phoenix House," said Ann-Marie Foster, President and CEO of Phoenix Houses of NY/LI.
"Mitch Rosenthal dedicated his long professional life to helping individuals who suffered from substance use disorder. He will be greatly missed by Phoenix House and by the tens of thousands of individuals and their families whose lives he made better," said William Rifkin, Phoenix Houses of NY/LI Board Chairman.
"For over 50 years Mitch and Phoenix House have been part of my life. We will go forward here in New York and elsewhere, building on his legacy," said Nancy Hoving, Phoenix Houses of NY/LI's longest serving board member.
