DES MOINES, IA (07/27/2010)(readMedia)-- You are invited to join Des Moines University (DMU) students, faculty, alumni and staff for a 5k through the beautiful south of Grand neighborhood around DMU.

The August 14 race, called DMU Run-Day-Voo, will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the circle drive in front of the Des Moines University Academic Center (north entrance), 3440 Grand Avenue.

"We have a very hilly route so if you're up for a challenge, sign up soon," said Ronnette Vondrak, DMU alumni director. "It's also a beautiful tour through local homes and a fun time for all."

Participants can run or walk for only $20, which includes a t-shirt. Register at www.dmu.edu or the day of the race, beginning at 7 a.m., for $30. This annual event correlates with the school's annual reunion. Awards will be given for overall winners.

Race packets can be picked up on Friday, August 13, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Student Education Center courtyard, 3300 Grand Ave., or the day of the event, 7-7:20 a.m., at the start line.
