Pomfrey of Fayetteville Honored with Clarkson University's Most Prestigious Alumni Award

POTSDAM, NY (07/25/2012)(readMedia)-- Robert W. Pomfrey of Fayetteville, N.Y., founder and president/chief executive officer of POMCO Group has been honored with the Golden Knight Award by his alma mater, Clarkson University.

Presented each year during Reunion Weekend, Clarkson's most prestigious alumni award is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves either by service to Clarkson through Alumni Association activities or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson.

Pomfrey received his bachelor of science degree in industrial management from Clarkson University in 1977. While at Clarkson, Pomfrey was a member of Tau Delta Kappa Fraternity.

As founder and president/chief executive officer of POMCO Group, Pomfrey directs the overall technology and management operations of the company, helping to build it from an organization with a handful of employees in 1978 to a multimillion dollar company that is among the top-10 third party administrators in the country in terms of size, serving clients across the country. He oversees the daily operations and strategic vision for his company, which has grown to 400 employees in nine locations.

Pomfrey is deeply committed to a variety of community causes, particularly in Eastwood, N.Y., and surrounding areas where POMCO Group calls home. He has closely worked with the Eastwood Neighbors Association and has been instrumental in spearheading Eastwood's recent neighborhood revitalization efforts.

In recent years, Pomfrey has been an active supporter of many private and civic organizations, including the Say Yes to Education program, which provides free tuition to local students; Jazz in the City; and Signature Music. In addition, he is an active supporter of the Multiple Sclerosis of Central New York, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Syracuse Silver Knights children's soccer camps and many more local organizations, as well as organizations throughout the state. He also serves on the board of directors for Syracuse Stage and Paper Conversions Inc. and previously served on the Syracuse Opera and the Metropolitan Development Foundation board of directors.

Pomfrey is a regular participant at Central New York, regional and on-campus Clarkson events.

Pomfrey and his wife, Kellie, live in Fayetteville, N.Y., and have three children, Michael, Alyssa and Noelle.
