Portland native Kelsey Houghton receives award upon graduation from Whitman College

WALLA WALLA, WA (06/05/2013)(readMedia)-- Kelsey Houghton of Portland, Ore. was honored with an award upon her graduation from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash.

Houghton was selected as a recipient of the Ely Chertok Award in Sociology. This award was established in 1965 to recognize one senior sociology major who has written a thesis demonstrating careful and thoughtful study about the nature of man in society.

Houghton is the daughter of Dave and Debi Houghton and a 2009 graduate of Cleveland High School. She received a B.A. in Sociology during the Whitman commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19.
