DES MOINES, IA (08/15/2011)(readMedia)-- 4-H members from across Iowa received honors in the 4-H Poultry Show held Thursday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair. Sydeny Klimesh of Calmer showed the Champion Market Broiler Pen, and Alex Sporrer of Manning took Reserve Champion honors.

The Champion Market Broiler Pen, as well as the Reserve Champion Market Broiler Pen and 12 other livestock champions, will be auctioned in the prestigious Sale of Champions on Saturday, August 20, at 2 p.m. in the Penningroth Media Center of the Cattle Barn. The event is sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, a non-profit organization established to encourage the pursuit of agriculture-related careers by Iowa's youth.
"Nothing Compares" to the 2011 Iowa State Fair, celebrating 100 years of the Butter Cow August 11-21. The Fairgrounds are located at East 30th and East University Avenue, just 10 minutes east of downtown Des Moines, and are open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. each day of the Fair. Exhibit hours may vary.
