HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/30/2012)(readMedia)-- Carter Kenneth Derrick Guice III, a junior majoring in biology at Hampden-Sydney College, received early selection to the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at The George Washington University (GW) through an innovative joint program. An Allan Scholar, Carter serves as Secretary of the social fraternity Sigma Chi and is a member of the Pre-Health Society and the scientific honor society Chi Beta Phi. Carter graduated from St. Paul's School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Carter K.D. Guice, Jr. of Mandeville.
This joint program allows talented pre-medical students at Hampden-Sydney to apply to the Early Selection Program during the second semester of their sophomore year as an undergraduate. Once selected, students are given a provisional admittance to the M.D. program at GW upon the completion of their undergraduate degree and requirements of the program.
