Public Info Sessions Set on Mohawk-Erie Corridor

ALBANY, NY (11/10/2011)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation and the New York State Thruway Authority, in cooperation with the New York State Canal Corporation, will host a series of regional public information open house sessions for the Mohawk-Erie Multimodal Transportation Corridor Study.

Commissioner Joan McDonald of the New York State Department of Transportation said, "The 400-mile Mohawk-Erie Corridor along I-90 is the transportation spine of upstate New York, an integral connection for trade, travel and tourism within the state, nationally and globally. We encourage the public to contribute to this study, which will help guide future transportation investments that enhance economic competitiveness and quality of life."

Thomas J. Madison Jr., acting executive director of the New York State Thruway Authority, said, "The regions along the Corridor are experiencing changes in population, their economies, and both freight and passenger traffic. This study examines how enlightened transportation strategies can impact the economic development of these important regions of the state."

To help define the future of Upstate New York, the Corridor Study actively engages stakeholders in the process to identify future strategic transportation investments that will enhance economic competitiveness and quality of life. This information will help shape an action plan that ensures that transportation is a distinguishing feature in planning for the future of the four Corridor regions.

Please attend a meeting location convenient to you to learn about the study process and to offer your comments as the study moves toward the analysis stage in early 2012. The study report is scheduled for the Fall of 2012.

The format is the same for all meetings: Drop in any time between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Stay as long as you wish. View the charts, pick up information, ask questions, share your comments and project ideas. This is the meeting schedule:
