NEW YORK, NY (09/28/2010)(readMedia)-- The NYS Consumer Protection Board, NYS State Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer and Shred-It Corporation Team Up to Help Consumers Prevent Identity Theft Related to Dumpster Diving

The New York State Consumer Protection Board's (CPB) Shred the Word! program is coming to Queens. The CPB and New York State Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer are joining with Shred-It Corporation to bring the public opportunity to shred personal records for free. Shredding is a proven deterrent of "dumpster diving" and identity theft.

WHAT:

SHRED THE WORD! -- Free shredding program, open to the public, courtesy of the CPB with the support of local organizations. A shredding truck will be on site. Consumers can watch their materials get shredded. Media will have the opportunity to watch and participate. Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer and CPB Chairperson and Executive Director Mindy A. Bockstein will be available on site.
