LA MIRADA, CA (12/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Track and Field added another female sprinter to its already deep roster by getting a commitment from Taylor Holcomb.
Holcomb has not been running track that long, but she has made an immediate impact as a dual-sport athlete at Ontario Christian High School. She qualified for the CIF Southern Section finals last year, her first year running track, and she also plays volleyball for the Knights.
"Taylor is an outstanding fit for Biola University and I am very excited for her," said Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman. "She is coming out of a wonderful school where she played varsity volleyball along with excelling in track and field and in the classroom. We are blessed to have her join our team and I know it will be a blessing for her as well."
Holcomb spends most of her time training and running the 100m and 200m sprints. She has a personal record of :12.61 in the 100m and :25.39 in the 200m. Her current 100m time is just .34 shy of Biola's all-time record in that event, and her 200m time is also less than a second shy of the school record.
After spending these two seasons under Coach Mason Burroughs at Ontario Christian Holcomb will join Zimmerman's defending conference championship squad next year.
