From canning and prize-worthy vegetables to fine arts and quilting to unique contests featuring Legos, gluten-free baking, miniature rooms and home brewing, there's something for every age, skill level and interest. Whether you're continuing a family tradition, chasing your first blue ribbon or simply trying something new, entering competitions is one of the most rewarding ways to celebrate your Fair Spirit this year. Plus, you could be one of a few who win special commemorative America 250 ribbons this year!

Department rules, entry deadlines and entry forms can be accessed at https://www.iowastatefair.org/competition.
While most entries are due July 1, a few select departments vary, so double-check the guidelines for your specific entry. Kids, here's another chance to showcase your artistic skills!
One cool contest is the Ag Art Contest, split into four age groups:
Plus, there's a special category for folks of any age with intellectual developmental disabilities. All you have to do is draw something related to the theme "A Day on the Farm" on a standard 8 ½"x11" white paper using any colors or materials you like. Entries are due by July 31.
