State of the Air Report Detailing New York's Air Quality Will Be Released April 27
ALBANY, NY (04/22/2011)(readMedia)-- WHAT: Press conference call on Tuesday, April 26, previewing the findings from the American Lung Association's State of the Air 2011 report, which will be released on April 27, 2011 at 5 a.m. ET. Please note the report is embargoed until that time. Now in its 12th year, State of the Air is the American Lung Association's annual report card on air quality, ranking cities and counties most affected by three types of pollution: ozone pollution, short-term particle pollution and annual particle pollution.
WHO: Press conference call speakers will include:
- Sandra Kessler, Interim President and CEO, American Lung Association in New York
- Dr. Irwin Berlin, board chair, American Lung Association in New York
- Janice Nolen, Assistant Vice President, National Policy and Advocacy, American Lung Association, lead author of the report
- Michael Seilback, Vice President, Public Policy & Communications, American Lung Association in New York
Families affected by asthma, lung disease and poor air quality will be available to be interviewed after the call.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 26, 2011 3 pm.
WHY: Millions of New Yorkers live in regions with failing air quality. Air pollution is a serious health threat. It sends people to the hospital, shapes how kids' lungs develop and can even be deadly.
AGENDA: Speakers will introduce the report, share top-level findings and national trends, and discuss the health effects of ozone and particle pollution for New Yorkers. Questions will be answered at the conclusion of the call.
