MADISON, NJ (12/06/2010)(readMedia)-- Ringoes resident Nicholas Woodhull, an honor student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham campus in Madison, NJ, was named the first recipient of the Robert S. Needham Memorial Scholarship in Business.
Woodhull is a sophomore business management major in the Silberman College of Business and member of the Devils Lacrosse team and Florham Scholars in Business. During his freshman year at FDU, Woodhull participated in a Florham Scholars in Business project to gather coats for the Market Street Mission, a homeless shelter and rehabilitation center in Morristown, NJ.
Established earlier this year with a grant of $45,000 from the Robert S. Needham Foundation, the scholarship provides full tuition, fees and board expenses in the form of an annual award to be given to the same student for their sophomore, junior and senior years, as long as they remain eligible according the scholarship guidelines. The amount of the award will vary annually to cover fluctuating costs.
To be considered for the scholarship the FDU student must me a full-time Silberman College student in their sophomore year. The student must have graduated from a New Jersey high school, have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and are actively involved in community service and campus leadership will be considered for the scholarship.
The late Robert S. Needham graduated from FDU magna cum laude, earning a BS in accounting from the Rutherford Campus in 1964. He was on the Dean's List and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. The scholarship was created by Needham's mother in honor of her son's rich memories of FDU.
