Riverside resident Kathleen Devlin Receives Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Malaysia
VILLANOVA, PA (06/28/2011)(readMedia)-- Kathleen Devlin, Riverside resident and 2011 Villanova University graduate, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Malaysia for the 2011-2012 academic year. Devlin will use the Assistantship to teach English to high school students in Malaysia and hopes to take university classes in international relations while abroad.
In addition to studying political science and Chinese studies at Villanova, Devlin's passion for international relations previously led her to Geneva where she monitored meetings of the United Nations Treaty Bodies while interning at a NGO specializing in human rights. Devlin also conducted research on think tanks and civil society in Africa as a research intern at the University of Pennsylvania.
After her Fulbright Teaching Assistantship ends, Devlin plans to pursue a career in international affairs in the US government, think tanks or consulting firms.
Since 1993, more than 965 Villanova University students have applied for national fellowships. Of those, 274 advanced to finalist status while 159 received awards.
