Robby Thompson Receives Public Service Certificate

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/11/2011)(readMedia)-- Hampden-Sydney College senior Robert Bruce Thompson III (left) recently received the prestigious James Madison Public Service Certificate from Dr. Christopher B. Howard, President of Hampden-Sydney College on behalf of the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest. The Public Service Certificates are presented to seniors who have successfully completed a two-year concentration of classes, internship, and research and who are seriously considering careers in public service.

Robby completed a double internship last summer, serving first in the Office of the Virginia Attorney General and then with the Rutherford Institute, a non-profit educational foundation in Charlottesville. Robby serves on the student senate and is a member of the honor society Pi Sigma Alpha (political science) and the social fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He plans to attend law school following graduation. Robby, a government major, is a graduate of The Covenant School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert B. Thompson, Jr. of Charlottesville.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
