MILLERSVILLE, PA (04/30/2013)(readMedia)-- The Clarence Schock Foundation recently awarded Ryan Clarke, of Gap, Pa., a full-tuition university Fellowship to Millersville University of Pennsylvania. A ceremony was held on April 6, 2013 at Governor Dick Park in Lebanon County for the recipients.
Clarke is a junior Dean's list student at Millersville University, majoring in social studies secondary education. He volunteers in local community service projects with his church youth group, travels on mission trips as part of his church's mission team and dedicates his time to mentoring children at the Octorara YMCA. Millersville University Chief of Staff Dr. James McCollum nominated Clark for the Fellowship.
The Clarence Schock Foundation has been awarding scholarships to area students since the early 1950s. To date, approximately 5,000 scholarships have been given out, totaling more than $15 million. The Fellowship Program, which provides full tuition for the entire senior year, is in its seventh year of operation.
The foundation was established in 1941 and the scholarships was begun in 1951 by Clarence Schock, so that deserving students who did not have the necessary financial resources could attend college through the scholarship program. Currently, freshmen receive $1,200, sophomores $1,600, juniors $1,800 and seniors $2,000. More information is available at the Foundation's website at: www.clarenceschockfoundation.org.
