Ryan Michael Thompson of Ellicott City Awarded Rhoda K. Roberts Memorial Scholarship in the Vocal Arts

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/02/2011)(readMedia)-- Ryan Michael Thompson of Ellicott City, Maryland, is the recipent of the Rhoda K. Roberts Memorial Scholarship in the Vocal Arts at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The scholarship was established in 2006 by Karen J. Horton and John J. Roberts to benefit students who demonstrate promise in the vocal arts.

Thompson, Class of 2013, is majoring in psychology and international languages and cultures (Spanish) with minors in music, biology, and neuroscience. He is a chamber singer at the college and performs with the choir at Trinity Church and in "Fourplay," a barbershop quartet. Thompson intends to pursue a career in psychiatry while continuing to perform as a vocalist.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
