STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR ANDREW M. CUOMO

ALBANY, NY (01/28/2011)(readMedia)-- "I was deeply saddened to learn of Correction Officer Casimiro Pomales' tragic death in an automobile accident while in the line of duty today. For more than twenty years Officer Pomales served the people of New York, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife Dorothea and their children, as well as his friends, and coworkers at Eastern Correctional Facility."

Governor Cuomo ordered that flags on all state office buildings will be flown at half-staff in Officer Pomales' honor.
