SUNY Canton Offers Security Guard Training Classes

CANTON, NY (11/22/2010)(readMedia)-- The SUNY Canton Center for Lifelong Learning is offering classes for aspiring and currently employed security guards in December.

The College will offer a course in pre-assignment training and an annual in-service training course. Both are approved by the Office of Public Safety and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and are mandated by the New York State Security Guard Act of 1992. University Police Deputy Chief Steven L. Livernois will be leading the classes.

The eight-hour pre-assignment training course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, December 10 in SUNY Canton Payson Hall Room 111.

An eight-hour annual in-service training course, which requires participants to be currently employed as security guards, will also be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 in SUNY Canton Payson Hall Room 111.

Each class costs $85 and all class materials are included.
