SUNY Canton Set for Fall Career Fair, Oct. 16

CANTON, NY (10/12/2018) Nearly 40 employers will be recruiting qualified applicants at SUNY Canton's Fall Career Fair.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in both the Miller Campus Center Woodcock Conference Suite 212 and in the Nevaldine Hall South Automotive Lab. Both areas are free and open to the public, with the Nevaldine location catering primarily to engineering and technology focused career opportunities for students of the Canino School of Engineering Technology.

"Employment opportunities exist across the state and locally," said Julie A. Parkman, the college's director of career services. "Our career fairs serve as the first interview for students looking for careers straight out of college. Some companies will also be recruiting for professional internship opportunities."

Companies often send SUNY Canton alumni back to seek out new talent. Regional aluminum recycler and producer, Novelis, comes annually to recruit new college graduates. The company provides innovative solutions for the beverage can, automotive and high-end specialty markets.

The college also recently held a virtual career fair with a similar number of companies with approximately 150 job seekers participating. By offering the career fair virtually, the career services office is able to reach the college's substantial online population and eliminate travel for employers.
