CANTON, NY (09/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Two well-known restaurants have made their way into the Canton community.

Taco Bell and KFC Express recently opened their doors at SUNY Canton and are already popular spots among students, faculty and staff. An official grand opening is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept.14, at restaurants' venue in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center near the Campus Center Store. The celebration and the eateries are open to the public.

"Our entire campus community is excited to have these restaurants open," said SUNY Canton President Dr. Joseph L. Kennedy. "Our students had voiced an interest in having these two restaurants at SUNY Canton and we were eager to answer their requests by bringing them to campus."

Both restaurants are located next to Jreck's Subs, a Northern New York company.

"Jreck's is not new to SUNY Canton," Kennedy said, noting the restaurant has been on campus for 10 years. "While we're proud to feature these new nationally-recognized eateries at the College, we're just as proud to have a company whose roots began just miles from here. We are the only college in the area to have a local restaurant business on campus. Having Jreck's illustrates our unwavering commitment to the continued success of North Country local businesses."

Hours for the three eateries are:

  • Monday- Thursday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Friday: 11 a.m. – Midnight
  • Saturday: 6 p.m. – Midnight
  • Sunday: 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Canton Town Supervisor David T. Button said, "The new eateries, the New Roos House Athletic Center and the new Grasse River Suites residence hall all directly benefit our community. SUNY Canton and its College Association have gone out of their way to bring more opportunities and revenue into our area. When you improve student life, as these new facilities do, you boost enrollment. That's great for Canton."

All eateries accept the Roo Card, credit cards, and cash. Hours are subject to change during non-academic periods and holidays. For more information, visit www.canton.edu/ca/dining.

SUNY Canton offers 21 career-driven bachelor's degrees in addition to its associate and certificate programs. SUNY Canton OnLine features more than 150 courses online each semester. The College's athletic teams belong to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The College is home to a brand-new athletic facility, nicknamed Roos House, and the Grasse River Suites, offering students single rooms in apartment-style settings while they live on campus.
