CORTLAND, NY (01/10/2012)(readMedia)-- SUNY Cortland President Erik Bitterbaum today expressed his support for the goals outlined in SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher's 2012 State of the University Address.
"The chancellor has once again set the bar admirably high, and we look forward to working with other SUNY campuses to find innovative ways to stretch resources, improve education and play an even larger role in revitalizing New York's economy," President Bitterbaum said. "We are especially excited about the chancellor's focus on distance learning, economic development and the effectiveness of New York's education pipeline; all areas that SUNY Cortland has already made priorities."
Chancellor Zimpher Tuesday outlined her plan to shift resources from administration to instruction and student services through greater collaboration among SUNY's 64 campuses, expand their role in community and economic development, improve graduation rates and work with school districts to make sure high school graduates are fully prepared for college.
