CORTLAND, NY (03/21/2014)(readMedia)-- Central New York residents can learn about what to do in case of emergencies and natural disasters during a preparedness training workshop sponsored by the Office of Gov. Andrew Cuomo at SUNY Cortland tomorrow.
The two-hour training session will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, in the Corey Union Function Room on the College campus. It is free to all residents of the Cortland region and all participants will receive free New York State Disaster Preparedness kits.
To register for the training, visit http://prepare.ny.gov/training-events. All participants should be prepared to show identification at check-in.
The session is one of dozens being held around the state through the Citizen Preparedness Corps Training initiative launched by Gov. Cuomo earlier this year in response to recent natural disasters caused by changing weather patterns.
The program is being led by the New York National Guard and experts from a variety of state agencies. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.
