SUNY Delhi Earns Its Highest Ranking on U.S. News Best Colleges List

DELHI, NY (09/09/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi is ranked No. 28 on the "Best Regional Colleges" list, its highest position to date, in the 2015 edition of "Best Colleges" by U.S. News Media Group. The exclusive rankings, which include more than 1,600 schools nationwide, are now available online at www.usnews.com/colleges.

This is the 10th consecutive year SUNY Delhi has been ranked by U.S. News. Delhi was ranked 33rd in 2014.

"Being ranked for 10 consecutive years is a distinct honor that recognizes the exceptional educational experience SUNY Delhi provides students," said President Candace S. Vancko. "I am particularly proud that the statistics show Delhi's graduation rate is the highest in SUNY's Colleges of Technology sector given the national focus on student success."

"The State University of New York has historically offered students an affordable, accessible higher education that is second to none," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. "As we work to bring the benefits of a SUNY education to even more students through our Completion Agenda, we are proud to see so many of our colleges and universities recognized by U.S. News & World Report again this year."

The college continues to earn high praise for academic excellence on many levels, including its status as a national leader in online education, according to U.S. News and CollegeChoice.com. Delhi's Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) and its RN to BSN program are meeting a critical educational need in New York State and throughout the nation. The college's Criminal Justice program was the first online Criminal Justice Bachelor of Science degree to be introduced within the State University of New York. Building on that success, SUNY Delhi recently introduced an online Bachelor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management that awards credit for industry experience, reducing the time it takes for students to complete their degree.

Delhi has also been honored as a Military Friendly College for five consecutive years and has qualified as a Yellow Ribbon School thanks to its commitment to student veterans.

SUNY Delhi offers specialized baccalaureate degrees in areas that include Hospitality Management, Business and Professional Golf Management, Golf Course Management, Information Technology Management, Architectural Design and Building, Construction Management, Business and Technology Management, Criminal Justice, Mechatronics Technology and Recreation and Sports Facility Management. These baccalaureate degrees build on the college's unique academic strengths at the associate degree level.

The U.S. News rankings measure academic quality by examining seven broad indicator areas: peer assessment; retention and graduation of students; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; and alumni giving. Indicators include both "input measures," which reflect the quality of students, faculty and other resources used in education, and "outcome measures," such as graduation and freshman retention rates, which signal how well the institution educates its student body.
