SUNY Delhi Graduates Set College Record with 100 Percent Pass Rate on Veterinary Technician Exam
DELHI, NY (06/03/2017) (readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology graduates set a college record this spring with a 100 percent pass rate among first-time test takers on the Veterinary Technician National Board Exam (VTNE), which is required for professional licensing in New York State. The national average pass rate was 64 percent.
Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology graduates have surpassed the national pass rate on the VTNE for four consecutive years, achieving a pass rate of 90 percent last year compared to a national average of 74 percent. This is the first time the college as attained a 100 percent pass rate.
"This is an extraordinary accomplishment for our graduates and for our entire Veterinary Science Technology program," said SUNY Delhi President Michael R. Laliberte. "SUNY Delhi has been a leader in veterinary science education for more than 50 years, and for good reason. This milestone is further proof of the quality of the program."
The VTNE is administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. It is used to evaluate entry-level veterinary technicians' competency to practice and to be credentialed. Most states and provinces require a passing score on the VTNE as one criterion for credentialing.
"SUNY Delhi's pass rate is consistently well above the national average, which is a testament to our dedicated faculty and staff as well as our outstanding graduates," said Katherine Murphy, Program Director and Assistant Professor of Veterinary Science.
Established in 1961, SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology program (AAS) was the first program of its type in the United States. Since its inception, it has developed into a dynamic, nationally recognized program. Thanks to the program's unmatched laboratory facilities and experiential learning tradition, Delhi graduates are well prepared as technical personnel for careers in the biomedical and veterinary medical fields. Past internship opportunities with NASA, Rockefeller University, the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell and Boehringer Ingelheim, have also helped distinguish Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology degree as one of the nation's preeminent programs.
SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology (AAS) program is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
