SUNY Delhi Programs Educate on the Importance of Locally-Grown Food

DELHI, NY (11/11/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi will host two programs to educate students, faculty, staff and community members about the importance of eating locally-grown food November 18 and 19 in The Okun Theatre in the Farrell Student and Community Center.

These programs will be presented in partnership with "Ethics and Accountability in Event Management" taught by Hospitality Management Assistant Professor Jennifer Redinger.

• Cowspiricy: The Sustainability Secret - Wednesday, November 18, 7 p.m. This documentary is "as eye-opening as Blackfish and as inspiring as An Inconvenient Truth" and "this shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact large-scale factory farming has on our planet, and offers a path to global sustainability for a growing population."

• "You Are What You Eat" - Thursday, November 19, 12:30 p.m. A viewing of the public service video produced by Delhi students focusing on sustainability, ethical farming, and being a Locavore. Following the video, Patrick Rider from Greenane Farms in Meridale will talk about ethical farming and the importance of eating locally-sourced foods. A short question and answer period will follow the program, then Delaware Bounty and Pure Catskills will be on site with samples of delicious food made in the Catskills region.
