SUNY Delhi Ranks Among Top 50 Best Vet Tech Programs in Nation

DELHI, NY (08/08/2017) (readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi has been ranked among the country's "Top 50 Best Veterinary Technician Programs" by TheBestColleges.org. SUNY Delhi was ranked at #4. The full ranking can be found here: www.thebestcolleges.org/top-vet-tech-schools/.

"The current ranking is further evidence of the strength of the "hands-on" approach and dynamic faculty that are hallmarks of the SUNY Delhi Veterinary Technology Program," said Bret Meckel, Dean of the School of Applied and Veterinary Sciences.

The Best Colleges cited SUNY Delhi's high ranking as a result of the college's excellent facilities that offer hands-on education with companion, lab, and farm animals. The guide also pointed out that students receive on-the-job training during required preceptorships and that special educational opportunities include working with shelter animals, raising "Guiding Eyes for the Blind" puppies on campus, special electives, and a wildlife management study abroad program in South Africa.

Established in 1961, SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology Program (AAS) was the first program of its type in the United States. Since its inception, it has developed into a dynamic, nationally recognized program. Thanks to the program's unmatched laboratory facilities and experiential learning tradition, Delhi graduates are well prepared as technical personnel for careers in the biomedical and veterinary medical fields. Past internship opportunities with NASA, Rockefeller University, the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell and Boehringer Ingelheim have also helped distinguish Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology degree as one of the nation's preeminent programs.

SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology (AAS) program is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
