SUNY Delhi's Robb Munro Named Coach of the Year

DELHI, NY (11/24/2016)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi Coach Robb Munro was honored as "Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year" by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association at the 2016 USCAA Cross Country National Championship in Virginia. His men's team won the championship, with his women's team placing sixth.

Coach Munro is in his fifth year as head coach of the cross country and track and field programs at SUNY Delhi. In the past four years of cross country, the Bronco men have won a conference title, two regional titles and placed third at the national championships three times. The women have been runners-up in the conference and the region twice, and placed third at the national championships in 2013. Under Munro, seventeen athletes have earned All-American in cross country and eleven have been Academic All-American.

In Munro's track and field tenure at Delhi, the men and women swept the regional titles in 2014 and 2015. The women went on to win the national championship in 2014, the 20th national title in SUNY Delhi Athletics history, and the men were national runners-up, seven points behind the winning team. In 2015, the men won the national championship and the women were runners-up. The men's team in 2015 established a new championship record for points scored and winning margin. The 2014 and 2015seasons produced 48 All-American honors in track and field. In 2016, SUNY Delhi's first in the USCAA, the men's team won the USCAA National Invitational while the women placed fourth.

Since Munro has taken over cross country and track and field, SUNY Delhi has had at total of 16 individual national champions, 65All-Americans and three national titles among the teams.

SUNY Delhi's dedication to student athletes grants them the opportunity to participate in various intercollegiate athletic programs while pursuing their academic careers. Delhi student athletes compete as part of the United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). In addition, the men's and women's golf, swimming and tennis teams as well as men's lacrosse team are affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Delhi student athletes have consistently placed in national competitions and many athletes have earned All-American honors in their respective sports.
