SUNY Oneonta Students Receive 9/11 Memorial Scholarships

Seven SUNY Oneonta students were recipients of the 9/11 Memorial Scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Each year, the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association awards seven scholarships to honor the legacies of Martin Lizzul ('91), Lynne Irene Morris ('00), Michael J. Mullin ('96), Jeffrey R. Nussbaum ('86), Kevin Owen Reilly ('95), Brian J. Terrenzi ('95), and Glenn J. Winnuk ('83), the seven alumni who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Scholarships are awarded to qualifying first-, second-, and third-year students with a minimum GPA of 2.8 and a demonstrated commitment to citizenship and community.

Students who qualify for the 9/11 Memorial Scholarship have also paid the undergraduate Student Alumni fee, which supports student research, career networking, academic excellence programs, library acquisitions, student-alumni connection grants, campus traditions, and cultural, educational and social programs.

The scholarship amount is $2,001 per recipient for the academic year and is used to defer the costs of tuition, fees, housing, student loans, etc, allowing them to participate more in non-academic opportunities like clubs and organizations on campus.

As part of the 25th anniversary 9/11 memorial service held on campus, students laid roses at the base of SUNY Oneonta's World Trade Center concrete towers in remembrance of the alumni who came before them. Full story: https://suny.oneonta.edu/news/25-years-later-suny-oneonta-remembers-911
