Public Inaugural Viewing and Discussion, 11:30 a.m., Room 200, Yokum Hall, SUNY Plattsburgh campus. An informal public discussion will follow the viewing, with faculty on hand to share insights and answer questions. Food will be permitted, so feel free to bring lunch. As a community service, the viewing event will also be an opportunity to gather donations for local food-shelf organizations. "German Medicine and Nazi Crimes," 7 p.m., Krinovitz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall. Patricia Heberer, historian at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, will discuss the role of medical professionals in the crimes of National Socialism. Her presentation will address the planning and implementation of the radical public strategies that helped the Nazis to achieve many of their racial goals. The talk will discuss sterilization and the clandestine "euthanasia" programs, the Nazis' first program of mass murder. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the history department.
