SUNY Potsdam Students Learn about Professional Etiquette at Seminar

POTSDAM, NY (03/23/2012)(readMedia)-- A number of SUNY Potsdam students recently learned how to navigate professional settings that include dining, in preparation for their transition into careers.

Twenty-three students who participate in the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program, the Student Support Services program and the Teacher Opportunity Corps recently attended the 2012 Professional Business Etiquette and Dining Skills Seminar held at Thatcher Hall, SUNY Potsdam.

During an interactive program that included a reception and dinner, presenters explained and demonstrated the proper etiquette and protocol for conduct in business interview and professional business or social situations that involve receptions and dining. The presenters included Christine Lancaster, an etiquette and protocol consultant certified by the Washington School of Protocol, and Diana Fisher, SSS and TOC director. Students enjoyed the event and expressed appreciation for this opportunity to further their professional development.

The CSTEP and TOC programs are sponsored by the New York State Department of Education Office of Higher Education, K-16 Initiatives and Access Programs Collegiate and Pre-Professional Programs Unit and Teacher Development Programs Unit. Student Support Services is a TRiO program sponsored by the United States Department of Education.
