Saint Francis University Student Travis Rosmus Earns Internship with USDA
LORETTO, PA (06/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Travis Rosmus, of South Fork, a senior chemistry major at Saint Francis University, received a summer internship position with the USDA office in Butler, PA. He will be working for rural development providing consultations, assistance, and funding opportunities for individuals and businesses located in rural communities.
The Renewable Energy Center at Saint Francis was able to connect Rosmus with the USDA because of his love of wind and his understanding of renewable energy. The internship is relevant to the renewable energy field as rural development has shifted focus to energy efficiency in rural communities. The USDA wanted somebody in the science field to help determine the possibility of these projects.
Rosmus will be undertaking the position of loan officer and will work with other interns, as well as a seasoned rural development officer to review certain projects and determine where the available monies should be diverted.
Rosmus is an active leader at Saint Francis; he is president of the chemistry club and the pep band. He is also ROCK leader, in which he is part of a team that goes to local schools to teach kindergarten through twelfth grade students chemistry lessons. He also tutors the homework help sessions for the physics classes at the university.
