STANDISH, ME (10/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Allison Pearsall of West Newbury was recently inducted as a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society at Saint Joseph's College is a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in history at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. She is a member of the social justice club, the campus habitat for humanity club and the make a difference club. She is active volunteering at a local food pantry, blood drives, and for several years has participated in Spring Break Workfest, a service project as an alternative to the traditional spring break vacation. She is working on an Americorp project in which she's committed 300 hours of community service in one year. After graduation she plans on joining the Peace Corps.
Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national scholastic honor society for students of Catholic colleges and universities, has been represented at Saint Joseph's College since 1950 by the Beta Omicron Chapter. Membership in Delta Epsilon Sigma is based on leadership, service, superior achievement in the student's academic program, 3.5 average or better based on a minimum of 63 semester-hour credits of Saint Joseph's College courses only, and the student's indications of future creditable use of that achievement in bringing the principles of a sound Christian philosophy to bear effectively upon the problems of a modern free society.
