PHILADELPHIA, PA (04/16/2013)(readMedia)-- Joseph A. DiAngelo Jr., Ed.D. '70, dean of Saint Joseph's University's Haub School of Business, was recently recognized by two highly regarded organizations for his outstanding commitment to business education.

Chair, AACSB Board of Directors

On Monday, April 8, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) announced new standards for business school accreditation for the first time in 10 years. The announcement was made during the association's annual conference in Chicago, where DiAngelo was honored for his leadership as board chair in recasting international standards for business school accreditation; initiatives aimed toward increasing liberal arts offerings in business programs; and the mobilization of a task force to review doctoral programs in business.

An active board member since 1997, DiAngelo began his service with AACSB as a member of its business accreditation visitation task force. The position of board chair is a one-year appointment; DiAngelo will assume the responsibilities of past chair in July 2013.

Franklin Award

The Philadelphia Insurance Society recognized DiAngelo for his leadership and contributions to insurance education with its 2013 Franklin Award during a luncheon on Thursday, April 11. Sponsored by the CPCU Society (a designation for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters), the Franklin Award is presented annually to individuals, groups or organizations for outstanding achievement and contribution to the insurance industry in the Delaware Valley.

Established officially as a major in 2010, Saint Joseph's risk management and insurance program has achieved rapid growth. U.S.News and World Report has consistently ranked it among the nation's Top 15 since its inception. In 2013, the program earned the No. 10 spot in the nation.

"His is a story of one who has navigated the difficult waters of bringing together a top industry practitioner board; earning the loyalty and dedication of a team at SJU; and the love and respect of his students," shared Samantha Miller, CPCU, manager of Sales & Client Services. "Dean DiAngelo inspires others with his commitment to learning and his willingness to 'live greater;' the future of our industry is surely in good hands."
