Publishing Exec Mark Dalton of Londonderry named Alumnus of the Year by Saint Michael's College

COLCHESTER, VT (06/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Londonderry resident, Mark Dalton, Vice President at Elsevier Publishing and a 1972 graduate of Saint Michael's College, was named 2012 Alumnus of the Year at Saint Michael's Reunion festivities held on the campus of the liberal arts residential Catholic college of Burlington, Vermont, June 8-10.

As VP for Business Development at Elsevier, Mr. Dalton has been most helpful to the President and Cabinet of Saint Michael's College, giving advice on the delivery and landscape of course content at the collegiate level, especially with regard to open source courses.

Service to Saint Michael's

Mr. Dalton was cited, by Alumni Director Angela Armour, for having been an extraordinary volunteer for Saint Michael's College since he graduated in 1972. He has served as a panelist for multiple Boston Career Seminars, interviewed prospective students for the Admission Office, referred high school students for the Nominate a Future Knight Program, and has always been willing to meet with young graduates to help guide them on their career paths.

Mr. Dalton was a member of the Saint Michael's College Board of Trustees from 1999-2008, serving on the Executive, Trusteeship and Mission, Institutional Advancement, and Learning committees. His overall contributions to the Board over the years were deemed invaluable. He was also cited as a longtime member of the SMC President's Medallion Society

College memories

Mark played club football during his freshman and sophomore college years and worked in the SMC Durick Library. When asked of his favorite memories of his college days he said he fondly remembers the Edmundite fathers, working in Stowe on weekends, and running Pasquino Productions showing movies at St. Mike's, UVM, and Trinity for $1.25 a person.

Service in Londonderry

Mark Dalton has been extremely active in his community of Londonderry, NH, coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for 15 years. He has also served as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 426 of the Boy Scouts of America, and has coached youth basketball and soccer teams.

Mark has completed four marathons and numerous other races and is an avid hiker having ascended Mt. Rainier and many mountains in New England and New York. Mark is an enthusiastic cyclist and kayaker, and "we are all thankful," Ms. Armour said, "that he and his wife, Mickey, are still together after having successfully kayaked their way across the Intracoastal Waterway to Cumberland Island."

Mark Dalton and his wife Mickey have three children and one grandchild.
