Elaine Ezerins of Middleboro receives Saint Michael's scholarship to study broad in Argentina

COLCHESTER, VT (04/22/2013)(readMedia)-- "My main goal for the semester abroad is to film all of my experiences and interview the inhabitants of Buenos Aires," said Elaine Ezerins, recipient of a $500 Marta Umanzor Study Abroad Scholarship from Saint Michael's College.

Ms. Ezerins, a sophomore, media, journalism, digital arts major at Saint Michael's, is the daughter of Erik and Shirley Ezerins of Middleboro, Mass. She is a Spanish language minor and will, with her scholarship, be studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the fall 2013 semester. She will study through the

Academic Programs International (API), Integrated Studies with Argentines Program at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella

Her journalism training will play into her film-making activities, and her commitment to advance her Spanish-speaking ability will be central to the project. She hopes principally to bolster her speaking ability by living and studying in the language. And she wants to use her skills to showcase the people she meets.

"I want to use my film to create a provocative documentary about Latin America," she wrote in her scholarship application. Her future plans also include speaking Spanish.

"I am hoping to make friends and contacts," she said, so that after I graduate, I can return to Argentina and become a part of a volunteer program."
