Sandra A. Engel, Ph.D. Named Director of International Education at Mohawk Valley Community College

UTICA, NY (01/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Sandra A. Engel, Ph.D., has been named the Director of International Education in the Innovation Center at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Dr. Engel is tasked with developing and maintaining international enterprises and partnerships that serve MVCC's students, faculty and staff. She is responsible for study abroad opportunities, faculty exchanges and distance learning connections.

She was a Fulbright Scholar to Vietnam in 2003 and has been a principal investigator for the USAID grant for IT training for Vietnam's Kien Giang Community College, now a partner with MVCC. She has organized several nationwide Vietnam conferences on the community college and wrote of her travels in that country in a series of columns for media outlets entitled "Postcards from the Delta."

Dr. Engel was recently appointed to the State University of New York Chancellor's World Team.

Engel holds a B.A and an M.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Iowa
